Real Time Spying: What you don't know...

dc0de [Jim Noble]
Network systems of today have evolved into mission critical business infrastructures, with liabilities everywhere. Many organizations have grown rapidly, and as such, have most of their critical data spread out in their network, with few controls around the sensitive data. We all know that this is bad, however, an entire industry to prevent this sensitive data from leaving the business has been created.

While on the surface this doesn't seem like a bad thing, the technology is fairly new, somewhat intrusive, and can provide (near) Real-Time alerting when sensitive data is observed “in-flight” on a network. Some of these systems can be coupled to others to allow ANY traffic to be viewed, including SSL/TLS encrypted sessions. This talk will discuss the practicality, concerns, options, and methods of determining if your organization uses such a tool.
