Summercon 2005

The 2005 Summercon left Pittsburgh and found its way to Austin, Texas, and spanned the dates of June 3rd to the 5th. The event was hosted at the Omni Austin Hotel Downtown in a conference room that lacked 802.11 and a bar. There was, however, a bar in the main lobby which stayed open late enough to drink yourself unconcious. The 2005 Schedule was not as packed as the previous 2 held in Pittsburgh.

Among the speakers were Major Malfunction, who had a really entertaining talk about bluetooth and infrared hacking; Tod Beardsley had talked about spam and phishing; Scott Lambert spoke about Windows malicious code analysis; redpantz hacked vodka, which worked suprisingly well, to the point where even seasoned bartenders couldn't tell the difference between a 10 dollar plastic litre of vodka and a $35 bottle of quality vodka; and Shawn Mer talked about 802.11 phone hacking.

An interesting thing about the Austin convention is that it was held at the same time as a city-wide biker festival.
