SummerCON 2011: June 10-12
Welcome to SummerCon.org!
Welcome to SummerCon.org!
June 08, 2011
All right, kids; it's time for Summercon. We sent a note out to everybody who pre-registered about how to get to Littlefield, some tips about parking, and a few notes about what to expect when you've registered. If you didn't get it, you didn't pre-register. Whoops.
Although partying at Summercon itself is a time-honored tradition, we're also inviting the general public to come to our afterparty: Hack This 2, hosted by the ladies of Sugar Shack Burlesque. It even got mentioned on Time Out New York's list of the five best parties in the city this week. You'd better bring your A-game, this thing is no joke.
We're ready to rock, are you? See you in the gutter!

We keep hearing from people that they plan on coming, but they don't want to pre-register. That's fine; we're totally cool with folks just showing up at the last minute. That's how we've been running this conference for the last 23 years. After all, we too have a strong tradition of disorganized last-minute planning.
This year, though, we somehow got our acts together, and have left almost none of our planning to the last minute. Being this organized has made us a little crazy. We want to make sure that everybody has a good time and has a chance to get a t-shirt in the size they want. Don't worry, there will still be plenty of chaos, but we've figured out almost all of the hard stuff already. It's these details that keep us awake at night.
So why should you preregister? By pre-registering, you help us order enough shirts in the correct size. Your registration fee gives you a shirt, a companion ticket to the Summercon burlesque afterparty, and a whole bunch of other cool conference swag. It's a really cool shirt this year, and you're going to want one.
It's also cheaper to pre-register. Early registrants (who pay before May 28th) get in for $50. After the 28th, the ticket price goes up to $60.
There are lots of reasons to come to Summercon. Have you ever gotten blindingly drunk while competently engaged in conversation about advanced mathematics? You will at Summercon. Here, you'll meet some of the smartest people you'll ever know, who actually get your nerdiest jokes. Every presentation is interactive: we're the people who invented throwing shoes at speakers (sorry, Muntazer al-Zaidi, we were tossing shoes back in 2007). It's a very different con--one focused on bringing the best infosec presentations in a uniquely loose social environment. You will not regret coming.
So help us make Summercon the best conference ever. Even if you think you'd rather just drop $60 at the door, please reconsider and pre-register. It does more than just save you a few bucks. It helps us ensure we can put on the greatest conference possible.

In our ongoing quest to get you to pre-register, we've moved the preregistration information higher on the home page. If you've already pre-registered, thanks. If not, visit our Eventbrite page, or use the handy form below.

Planning for the world's drunkest con has begun in earnest. Mark your calendars for June 10 - 12, 2011, when Summercon 2011 busticates its way into the Big Apple. Redpantz has been yelling "DRIIIIIIINK" at Shmeck for over seven straight hours, so you can imagine how much beer those two have spilled on the server. Hopefully they'll have an update on the venue sometime really soon.
